Our Pastors

Jerry H. Skelton

Apostle Jerry H. Skelton, Sr. Pastor of Fountain of the Living Word (FOTLW), was born to Rev. and Mrs. H. Donald Skelton, pastors in Dallas for over 60 years. His father and mother, who are now shouting around the throne of God, raised Jerry in the miracle revivals of the 1940’s and ‘50’s. Seeing some of the GREAT evangelists and tent revivals of the past, Evangelist A.A. Allen, and Evangelist Jack Coe, Sr. to name a few, Apostle Skelton had a fire ignited in the core of his being to continue to see the move of God and to be in the LAST GREAT REVIVAL before the return of Our Lord Jesus! Apostle Skelton is continuing a Ministry of Miracles and Healing in each of the church’s services.

Apostle Skelton traveled and played the Hammond Organ for several evangelists before becoming a Pastor at the age of 24. He took the reins of Sr. Pastor from Rev. J.B. Carter at The National Revival Center, a former Movie Theatre at 1709 So. Ervay, near Downtown Dallas, and changed the name to Ervay Street Temple.

Apostle Skelton attended Christ for the Nations in Dallas, Texas in 1990, and has been given a couple of Honorary Doctorates from other seminaries. Apostle Jerry had some of the best training by his mother, praying three hours a day and speaking The Word into her children every day! But nothing brings you into The Word more than a major trial of your faith, where you have to go to God AND His Word to “Study to show yourself approved, a workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth!” (2 Timothy 2:15) Apostle Jerry tells how the world has their “drug pushers”, and he refers to himself as a “Word Pusher”!

Apostle Skelton has been pastor of the same congregation in Dallas for 54 years. At least a dozen churches in the United States have pastors that were saved, filled with the Holy Ghost, and/or trained under Apostle Skelton’s ministry. He has also educated Evangelists and Ministers throughout the years that are still ministering today! In May 2010, Jerry Skelton was ordained as an Apostle.

He has ministered in Russia, Israel, Costa Rica, Haiti, Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico and has visited 22 nations. In 1977, he and his choir director sang and played in an evangelistic service before a crowd of 22,000 at the Madison Square Gardens in New York City. He and part of his church choir (FOTLW) participated in the filming of a major motion picture “The Apostle”, starring Academy Award winner Robert Duvall, Farah Fawcett, and Billy Bob Thornton, released in January 1997.

Apostle Jerry Skelton married Tami McGuire Boaz in 1993. He has a son Jay who has been with the Dallas Fire Department for over 20 years and a daughter, Angel who is also employed by the City of Dallas, and has six grandsons.
