In May 1964, Senior Pastor J.B. Carter, of the National Revival Center felt the Lord was leading him back on the evangelistic field. He asked Brother Jerry Skelton if he wanted to take over the church. Brother Skelton knew the Lord was grooming him to become a pastor, but he still wanted and asked for advice from his parents. His dad said it was a good idea; but his mother was against it. She said he couldn’t even testify so how was he going to preach!! Brother Skelton was 24 when he became pastor and took over the church which at the time was located at 1709 So. Ervay Street (in a former movie theatre) near downtown Dallas. The church name was changed to Ervay Street Temple.
The church relocated to Ewing Street and changed their name to Victory Temple.
In their final relocation to 2543 E. Ledbetter Drive (Loop 12), Dallas, TX 75216, Pastor Skelton felt the need to change their name to Fountain of the Living Word Church to reflect his love for the Word of God.
